Overview
Dr. Dane Boyles is a minister, professor, counselor, and chaplain whose work brings together theology, ministry, and pastoral care. He serves as the preaching minister for the Northwest Tampa Church of Christ in Florida. His ministry extends from the pulpit to counseling and chaplaincy, proclaiming the gospel's transformative power as he helps people come to faith, rebuild faith, face loss, and find wholeness before God. "Taking the gospel deeper into the heart and farther into the world" is his purpose. He teaches that faith thinks differently: "Where we can't, God will."
Dr. Boyles teaches that faith begins with the Word of God, not with our experiences. When Scripture comes first, it gives meaning to everything we face and guides how we believe and live. The gospel produces a way of seeing that does not rise from human intuition or culture but from divine revelation. As he often expresses it, "His Word decides reality." This confidence in the revealed Word, rather than perception, shapes his preaching, teaching, and pastoral care, calling people out of self-reference and into the life ordered by God.
Formation and Calling
Dr. Boyles' call to ministry was shaped during his formative years in Lubbock, Texas, where he attended Coronado High School and was active in the youth group at Sunset Church of Christ. Under the guidance of youth ministers Robert Parham and Rex Boyles, he learned that authentic ministry is rooted in Christ-centered relationships. During those formative years, the Bible instructors at Sunset International Bible Institute deepened his theological foundation and instilled in him a conviction that would define his life: a commitment to serve the church and engage the world with the gospel.
Academic and Theological Training
Dr. Boyles earned a Ph.D. in Spanish with a specialization in Latin American literature from Texas Tech University, where he also completed a Master of Arts in Spanish and Linguistics, and his study of language continues to shape the way he preaches and teaches. He later completed a Master of Arts in Religion from Abilene Christian University, a Master of Science in Bible and Ministry from Lubbock Christian University, and a Doctor of Ministry from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Practical Theology and Evangelism. These programs gave him the opportunity to learn to think, reason, and serve from Scripture, allowing God’s Word to direct both belief and ministry.
Counseling, Mediation, and Chaplaincy
In addition to pastoral ministry, Dr. Boyles was a credentialed mediator with the Texas Mediator Credentialing Association until January 2021 and has successfully mediated more than one hundred cases. He is a Doctoral Diplomat in Christian Counseling through the International Association of Christian Counseling Professionals, and a board-certified chaplain through the Association of Certified Christian Chaplains and the Spiritual Care Association. He is also certified in Christian Counseling and Temperament Therapy through the National Christian Counseling Association and holds additional certifications as a Personal Trainer and Fitness Nutrition Specialist from the American Council on Exercise. He currently integrates these disciplines through preaching, teaching, counseling, and chaplaincy, offering care that attends to body, mind, and spirit.
Focus and Vision
Dr. Boyles’ ministry continues to express one conviction: the gospel forms the whole person. In preaching, teaching, and care, he helps others find integrity, peace, and hope in Christ. His video Sunday messages can be viewed at www.youtube.com/@daneboyles2329
